The SALAMANDER is designed to perform unique operational tasks, such as sophisticated observation, anti-tank defence, and command and control.
The SALAMANDER 4x4 features an amphibious design and a low profile. Without any prior preparation, the vehicle and its crew of four may operate in deep and swiftly moving waters The vehicle’s enhanced manoeuvrability in water is provided by two propellers positioned at the rear.
The SALAMANDER’s low centre of gravity, fully independent suspension system, ABS-assisted hydraulic disc brakes, low ground pressure and enhanced approach and departure angles enable it to operate across all types of challenging terrain. The vehicle can climb gradients of up to 70%, traverse side slopes of up to 40% and easily overcome vertical obstacles up to 0.4 metres in height. A front-mounted hydraulic recovery winch provides the vehicle with self-recovery capability when required.
Transparent ballistic armour in the driver’s compartment provides the driver and crew with a wide field of view. The SALAMANDER 4x4 is also equipped with integrated day and night vision camera systems for the commander and driver, enabling night-time operations with or without blackout lights. The commander, driver, gunner and dismount personnel are each provided with dedicated command and warning panels, as well as height-adjustable mine-protected seats.
